For KAGAS this has been the guiding philosophy to witness that big transformation happens on the ground.
A voluntary organization based out of Pithoragarh, KAGAS has been working on to bind all threads possible to uplift the lives and the living of the rural poor and employable youths of the hilly region of Northern India. In so many years we have worked in Pithoragarh, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar and Nanital districts of Uttarakhand State (India) and spreading our wings to reach out to the other states in this region. Being a difficult terrain, the hilly regions of India always throw challenge to the people in all sphere of their life. In this situation, the poor, backward and rural community find it even harder to meet their ends.
KAGAS is specially focusing to create awareness amongst the working poor and employable youth so that they bring progressive changes in their life style and improve their standard of living. The key areas that we include health, livelihoods, education, watershed development and economic empowerment of the women and youth. This has been made possible through the organization and strengthening of women self-hep groups and cooperatives, youth mobilisation and technological inclusion in the process.
Various bilateral and international agencies like CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency), CECI (Canadian Center for International Studies and Cooperation), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Action Aid, Skill share International, Room to Read, as well as the State and National Governments have recognized our efforts and partnered with us to propel the growth story further.
